Ms. Paullumi Mukheerjee is the Ganda Bandh Shagird of Guru Ramadevi Lachhu Maharaj of the Lucknow Gharana. She is the torchbearer of the legacy of the (Late) Guru Lachhu Maharaj of the Lucknow Gharana. She is the founder-director of the Nrityadarpana Foundation, an organization dedicated to the propagation of Kathak. Her Guru (Late) Smt. Ramadevi Lachhu Maharaj was the President Emeritus of the organization. Her forte is abhinaya.


She has a master’s degree in Performing Arts and in Economics and Politics. She has a Diploma in Indian Art and in Film/Video Production.


She is a Praveshika Poorna in Tabla. She was awarded the National Scholarship in Kathak instituted by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi(1990-1992), and is a Nritya Visharad and Nritya Alankar in Kathak. She has a diploma in Sanskrit. She has authored 2 books on Kathak- Kathak Nritya ki Pehechan- Part I and II. She has received numerous awards including the Madame Menka Award, Rukmini Arundale Award, Pandit Jasraj Award, Shingar Mani, Tarang Padma Award, and the Sant Sarvadnya Dasopant Nrutya Ratna Award.

She has performed at many prestigious festivals in India and has had successful tours in Europe and in the USA. She started her career as an actress in Ramanand Sagar’s TV Series, Shri Krishna, and then graduated to more challenging roles. Some of her notable performances include Alif Laila, Sansar, Milan Mahal, and Chanakya. She has performed in dramas like Zara Muskura Do, Kusum Manohar Lele, and Kiski Biwi Kiska Shahar. She serves as faculty at Bharata College of Performing Arts. She is a recognized examiner for Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj, Maharashtra, and Khiragarh University.
