Samantha Ruth Prabhu Was born on 28 April 1987 is an Indian actress known primarily for her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Regarded as one of the highest-paid actresses in South India, she has received numerous honors, including four FilmFare Awards South, two Nandi Awards, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and a FilmFare OTT Award.
After briefly working as a model while studying commerce, Samantha Ruth Prabhu made her acting debut with the Telugu romantic drama Ye Maaya Chesave (2010), earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. She later became only the second actress to win both the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil and Best Actress – Telugu in the same year for her acclaimed performances in Neethaane En Ponvasantham and Eega (both 2012).
She established herself as one of South India’s leading actresses with starring roles in several commercially successful films, including Dookudu (2011), Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (2012), Attarintiki Daredi (2013), Kaththi (2014), Theri (2016), 24 (2016), Mersal (2017), and Rangasthalam (2018).
Samantha Ruth Prabhu won her fourth Filmfare Award South for her performance in A Aa (2016) and received widespread critical acclaim for her roles in Mahanati (2018), Oh! Baby (2019), Super Deluxe (2019), and Majili (2019). She expanded into digital entertainment with The Family Man (2021), earning the Filmfare OTT Award for her performance. Following a couple of commercially unsuccessful projects, she starred in the action series Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024).
Beyond acting, Samantha founded the charitable organization Pratyusha Support and ventured into film production with the horror-comedy Subham (2025). She followed it with Maa Inti Bangaaram (2026), which became the highest-grossing solo-led film of her career.

| Controversies | Row Over a Film Poster In September 2013, Samantha created a stir by posting a controversial tweet on her social media account. The tweet was against the first poster of Mahesh Babu’s film, Nenokkadine. It reads, The tweet did not go well with the fans of Mahesh Babu and they started criticizing and disrespecting her. In support of Samantha, her that time boyfriend, Siddharth joined the conversation and started making derogatory comments against fans, by calling them haters and terrorists. The fans were unhappy to such an extent that they started the hashtag #GetLostSamanthaAndSiddharth which received 11,000+ tweets in just five hours. In 2023, netizens trolled her for the poster of the Telugu film ‘Kushi.’ In the poster, the Indian actor Vijay Deverakonda was seen touching his foot to her arm. Netizens asked her if that was not regressive. Conflict with the Film Producer In 2023, the Indian film producer Chitti Babu passed negative Twitter comments on her after the release of her Telugu film ‘Shaakuntalam.’ He said that her career as a heroine was over.
