Born and raised in Mumbai, Rahul was a student at Whistling Woods International Institute. He interned with Luv Ranjan on the sets of his film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ in 2011 and then became associate director for films like ‘Akaash Vani’. Rahul was initially supposed to join the family business of his father Amod. However, Bollywood Life reported that he was inspired to take on the filmmaking process when he witnessed the filming of ‘Marjani’, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra for the film ‘Billu Barber’.
