Superstar Rajinikanth’s new film, Coolie, is making history at the worldwide box office. Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed action thriller Coolie opened to a record and is now the number one film in the world in its opening weekend.

Coolie collected in four days:
- ₹194.25 crore net in India (₹233 crore gross)
- ₹160 crore overseas (around $18 million)
- ₹393 crore worldwide (approx. $45 million)
The film is now the fastest Tamil movie to cross ₹100 crore in India and is on track to touch ₹200 crore soon.
Global success
What makes Coolie’s performance even bigger is that it managed to beat international hits like Weapons and Freakier Friday at the worldwide box office.

About the film
Coolie tells the story of a retired coolie (played by Rajinikanth) who finds himself caught in the dark world of crime after his friend’s death. The film also stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, with a special cameo by Aamir Khan.
