Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has come down heavily on the upcoming film “The Kerala Story 2”, terming it “bakwaas propaganda” after watching the trailer of the film. The film, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, is set to release on February 27.

Talking to the media in Kochi during the Filmfare Awards South, Kashyap reacted to a controversial scene from the trailer where a character is purportedly forced to eat beef. “Aisa kaun beef khilata hai? Aisa koi khichdi bhi nahi khilata hai,” he said, trashing the film as “nonsense” and accusing the filmmakers of trying to divide people for the sake of money.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also criticized the film, advising people to boycott the film as it is a case of false propaganda against the secular image of Kerala.
Despite the criticism, the film has managed to get a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. Producer Vipul Shah defended the film, saying that it is based on real legal cases and tries to mirror the larger national issues through the lives of three women.
