Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee is an Indian-American economist from West Bengal, India and is currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Education
Banerjee contemplated financial matters at the University of Calcutta (B.Sc. 1981), Jawaharlal Nehru University (M.A. 1983), and Harvard University (Ph.D. 1988). He showed financial matters at Princeton University from 1988 to 1992, at Harvard in 1991 and 1992–93, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1993. At MIT he was in the end (2003) named Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics. In 2003 he and Duflo, alongside Sendhil Mullainathan, a financial specialist at MIT, established the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), an exploration focus supporting logically educated approach making to lessen worldwide neediness. Banerjee and Duflo were hitched in 2015.
Career
He is currently a professor of economics at the famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He along with his wife and colleague has advocated field experiments as an important method of discovering causal relationships in economics. For his achievements and experiments, he has been felicitated with various honours. He co-authored a book titled Poor Economics along with his wife Esther Duflo in the year 2012 and for this book they won the Gerald Loeb Award Honorable Mention. In 2019, he along with his wife and economist Michael Kremer won the Nobel Prize in Economics for their work alleviating global poverty.
