Mumbai, Sept 5: Television actor Aly Goni, best known for shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Bigg Boss 14, recently found himself at the center of controversy after a video from a Ganpati celebration went viral on social media. In the clip, Aly attended the festivities with his girlfriend Jasmin Bhasin and actress Nia Sharma. While Jasmin enthusiastically chanted “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” Aly was seen standing quietly, which led many netizens to accuse him of disrespecting religious sentiments.
Aly Explains His Silence
In an interview with Filmigyaan, Aly addressed the issue for the first time. The actor clarified that it was his first-ever visit to a Ganpati pandal, and he was simply lost in thought at that moment. “I had no idea my silence would be blown out of proportion. I wasn’t intentionally quiet; I was just in my own thoughts,” he said.
Faith and Respect for All Religions
Responding to criticism, Aly explained that in his religion, followers pray through duas and namaz rather than performing traditional rituals. “The Quran teaches us to respect every religion, and I have always done that. Just because I didn’t chant doesn’t mean I disrespected anyone’s beliefs,” he added.
