Syed Jawaher Ali Jaffry better known as Jagdeep in bollywood industry is an Indian film actor known for his comic roles.
Popular for playing ‘Soorma Bhopali‘ in Sholay, Jagdeep appeared in more than 400 films. He appeared in films like Purana Mandir (in 1984), Salman Khan’s dad in the movie Andaz Apna Apna (in 1994), and directed a movie Soorma Bhopali with his own character from Sholay movie as the protagonist.
He started his film career as a child artist in films like B. R. Chopra’s Afsana, then to a child artist in Ab Dilli Door Nahin, K A Abbas’s Munna and AVM’s Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke. Then later came Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zameen with which he started playing comic roles.
Jagdeep is the father of popular duo Naved Jaffrey & Jaaved Jaffrey (both Naved and Jaaved host the popular show on Sony channel called Boogie Woogie).

Veteran actor Jagdeep, 81, dies in Mumbai.
Bollywood’s veteran actor Jagdeep passed away at 8:30 PM on Wednesday, July 8 at his residence in Bandra. He was not keeping well due to age-related issues,” producer Mehmood Ali, a close family friend, told PTI. He will be laid to rest on Thursday at Shia Kabristan in Mumbai.

Cause of death
He was not keeping well due to age-related issues.He died at the age of 81 years in his Mumbai residence.
