Saba Azad is an Indian actress, theater director and musician. She made her debut in Bollywood in 2008 with “Dil Kabaddi”, she is one of the leads Raaga in this Indie film. She is known for her leading role in the romantic comedy film “Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge”.
Early Life & Family
Saba Azad was born on 1 November, 1985 in Delhi. Her father name is PM Singh who is punjabi and her mother is kashmiri. She has an elder brother. She is a perfect example of one person wearing many hats, as she is an actress, musician, dancer and a theatre artist. She is the niece of theatre great Safdar Hashmi. Born into a theatre family, Azad performed with Safdar Hashmi’s theatre group Jana Natya Manch in their stage productions since a very young age, where she worked with Habib Tanvir, MK Raina, GP Deshpande and NK Sharma. She also trained in dance forms like Odissi, classical ballet, jazz, Latin as well as contemporary dance forms.
Her stint with cinema started after schooling when she landed a lead role in a short film Guroor for director Ishaan Nair which travelled to festivals in New York and Florence. She has since gone on to work in many short films.

Saba Azad made her Bollywood debut in 2008 with the film “Dil Kabaddi,” directed by Anil Senior, where she shared the screen with Rahul Bose. She played the lead role of Preity Sen in Y-Films’ “Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge,” opposite the newcomers Nishant Dahiya and Saqib Saleem.
Aside from her acting career, Saba Azad is also a prominent musician and singer in the Indian indie music scene. In 2012, she joined forces with actor and musician Imaad Shah to form the widely popular electronic band Madboy/Mink.
In 2010, Saba Azad established her own theater company called The Skins. She took on the role of a director and presented her first play, “Lovepuke,” which premiered at NCPA’s experimental theater in September of that year.
