Recently, a video of Munmun Dutta surfaced on social media in which she made objectionable remarks on a particular caste. After the video came out, FIRs were registered against her in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Supreme Court on FIR registered against actress in five states has been banned. A bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and V Rama subramaniam asked that ‘what you said may be meant to defame the entire community. You are saying that you are a woman but tell us whether women have better rights than men or do they also have equal rights?’

Munmun Dutta’s lawyer Puneet Bali admitted that the actress made a mistake and deleted the video within two hours of posting it. Bali requested that all the cases be transferred to Mumbai.

In fact, last month, Munmun Dutta had commented about a particular caste in a video. After which that video of her went viral on social media and many users expressed anger against the actress and demanded her arrest.
With the matter catching up, Munmun Dutta apologized on social media. He wrote in a note, ‘This is in reference to a video I posted yesterday. Where a word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intention of insulting, threatening or hurting anyone’s feelings. Due to my limited knowledge of the language, I had a wrong understanding of the meaning of that word’
