Born on January 30, 1929, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Ramesh Deo hailed from a family with ancestral ties to Jodhpur, Rajasthan. His father served as a judge in Kolhapur, and the family’s roots in engineering were evident, with both his great grandfather and grandfather being engineers renowned for constructing the Jodhpur Palace. Their expertise led them to Kolhapur when Chatrapati Shahu Maharaja invited them to contribute to the city’s development. Ramesh Deo’s grandfather assumed the role of chief engineer under Shahu Maharaj, while his father served as the legal advisor.

Ramesh Deo Personal Life:

Ramesh Deo was wedded to Seema Deo, an actress previously recognized as Nalini Saraf. His offspring include Marathi actor Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo, the director behind the 2011 film Delhi Belly. On 2 February 2022, at the age of 93, Ramesh Deo passed away due to a heart attack at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

Ramesh Deo Career:

He marked his cinematic debut with a brief appearance in the Marathi film “Paatlaachi Por” in 1951. Raja Paranjape’s “Andhala Magto Ek Dola” (1956) provided his inaugural substantial role. Commencing his journey as a villain, he ventured into Hindi cinema with Rajshree Productions’ “Aarti” in 1962. Throughout his extensive career, he took on supporting roles, notably alongside Rajesh Khanna in lead roles in films such as “Anand,” “Joroo Ka Ghulam,” “Aap Ki Kasam,” “Prem Nagar,” “Ashanti,” and “Goraa.” His contributions extended to supporting roles in “Mehrba” as well.
