Being born in a family which had film connection, he too was destined to become an actor. He started off by acting in an acclaimed Tamil short film, “Adayalam” in the year 2002. He finally made his silver screen debut with the Telugu film titled Devadasu in the year 2006. He was cast opposite Ileana D Cruz in this film. The film was a success at the box office and he too started getting various offers after his debut film. He was then cast opposite Genelia D’Souza in the blockbuster film Ready in the year 2008. This film made him an overnight star and people started taking him seriously. After some ups and downs in the next couple of years, he came back strong with yet another blockbuster in Kandireega in the year 2011.

He by now was among the sought after actors of the Telugu film industry. Unlike other regional actors, who work in multiple films at the same time, Ram decided to concentrate on doing good work and has had mostly had only 1 release every year. His latest released films include Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi and Hello Guru Prema Kosame. He will be soon seen in iSmart Shankar. In addition to acting, he is also a great dancer and also knows martial arts. He is often seen participating in various charitable programs and has lent his hand for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
