Parshurama was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.He lived during the last Dvapara Yuga, and is one of the seven immortals or Chiranjivi, of Hinduism. He received an axe after undertaking terrible penance to please Lord Shiva, who in turn taught him the martial arts.

Lord Parashurama was born as the son of Sage Jamadagni and Renukaon the third day during the waxing phase of moon in the month of Vaisakha.
This day celebrates the sixth incarnation of Hindu God lord Vishnu. It is said that Lord Parashurama killed 21 generations of Kshattriyas who were the ruling class. This Day is celebrated in honour of Lord Parshuram the sixth incarnation of lord Vishnu.
