Born in 1983, Arun Yogiraj is a skilled Indian sculptor hailing from Mysuru. Among his notable works is the creation of a 30-feet statue of Subhash Chandra Bose,[1] prominently placed in the canopy behind the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate[2] in New Delhi, coinciding with the celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary. Additionally, Arun Yogiraj’s artistic talent is showcased in his installation of the idol of Ram Lalla, the child form of the Hindu god Rama, at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

Arun Yogiraj Personal Life & Education 

Arun Yogiraj, originally from Agrahara, Mysore, belongs to a lineage of sculptors spanning five generations, rooted in the city of Mysuru in Karnataka. His father, Yogiraj, and grandfather Basavanna Shilpi are renowned sculptors as well. Arun pursued an MBA and initially worked in a private company before dedicating himself to sculpting full-time in 2008. Tragically, while Arun was crafting the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, his father Yogiraj Shilpi passed away in October 2021. Arun, who has a brother and a sister, is married to Vijetha, and his brother Suryaprakash, also a sculptor, resides with them in Mysore.

Arun Yogiraj’s notable creations include the impressive statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate, New Delhi.

His recent masterpiece is the divine statue of Ram Lalla, a 51-inch tall idol installed in the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

Among his other remarkable works are a 12-feet tall 3-D statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath, A 21-feet tall Hanuman statue at Chunchanakatte in Mysore district, a 15-feet tall sculpture of BR Ambedkar in Mysuru, inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah in 2018, A white amritashila statue of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in Mysore, a six-feet monolithic statue of Nandi, and a six-feet tall statue of Banashankari Devi. Noteworthy among his creations is the 14.5-feet tall white amritashila (marble) statue of Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, unveiled in 2016, Honoring the Raja of Mysore, along with a 5-feet bust of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.
